Domino Effect

You know how people who love Jesus like to lead others to Jesus? Sometimes people keep a count of how many people they’ve “converted.” Have you thought about looking at it in a different way? While at camp I was reminded of a different way to look at it by Johnny V.

Think about the domino effect. You know how it works, right? Well, think about the domino effect in relation to introducing people to Jesus. Typically it isn’t one person who introduces someone to Jesus and leads them all the way into a personal relationship with Him. It takes lots of dominos. Lots of people at various times and in various capacities. There might be a praying grandmother in Canada, a next door neighbor who waves and smiles every morning, a co-worker who talks about Jesus often, and a friend who buys his gas. Then one day he meets a Jesus lover at a coffee shop and accepts Jesus as his Savior. Now, we often give all the credit to coffee shop dude. Yes he did help the guy make the last step. But would he have been ready if it wasn’t for the other dominos in his life? God uses many dominos in people lives and He gets all the credit, not the dominos. John 6:44 says, “People cannot come to me unless the Father who sent me brings them to me.” The Father is drawing people to him and receives all the credit. He masterfully uses domino 1, 2, 3, 4, and many more.

I think being a domino is pretty cool. Sometimes it is hard to see the impact unless you are the domino who leads the person into a relationship with Jesus. But, I like being all sorts of dominos in the process. 🙂 Think you are up to the challenge of being a domino? Scared? Not ready? Don’t think you are capable? Neither were some pretty famous people in the Bible. Check out this Scripture – Acts 4:13 -“After they found out that Peter and John had no education or special training, they were surprised to see how boldly they spoke. They realized that these men had been with Jesus.” Education don’t matter. All that matters is being with Jesus and spending time in His presence. That is what prepares you to be a domino. Are you ready? Don’t be a domino that brings people further away from Jesus, be a domino that brings people closer to Him. How do you do that? I’ll save my thoughts on that for another day. But, don’t hold your breath… It is only my thoughts. 🙂

Maybe I’ll go play a game of dominos now. 🙂
